Delinquent Real Property and Personal Property (Tangible) Tax Bills

The County Clerk’s Office is responsible for collecting delinquent property tax bills. Please see the delinquent tax search engine and calculator at www.fayettedeeds.com or call our office at (859) 253-3344 for payoff information.

All delinquent tax payments should be submitted in person, by mail, or to our drop box.

Because a delinquent property tax bill constitutes a lien on property, bills must be paid by cash, money order, or cashier/certified check payable to Fayette County Clerk. We are unable to accept personal checks, business checks, counter checks, or credit cards. The amount due will increase each month due to interest applied.

Our office cannot accept partial payments on delinquent tax bills. If you are unable to make a full payment of your delinquent tax bill you may contact the Fayette County Attorney’s Office to make payment arrangements. Their phone number is (859) 254-4941.

Hours for payment information: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Delinquent Tax Sale

Per the Kentucky Revised Statutes, each year, the County Clerk’s Office is responsible for conducting a sale to third party purchasers of eligible delinquent tax bills, who may then work to collect the bills. The tax sale may occur no earlier than 90 days and no later than 135 days after the bills have been turned over to the County Clerk’s Office by the Sheriff.

In 2025, the tax sale was held on July 18th. Tax sale dates are posted on the Revenue Department website at www.revenue.ky.gov. Research current year tax bills at www.fayettesheriff.com, and delinquent bills at www.fayettedeeds.com
