Board Responsibilities

• Administer election laws
• Establish precinct boundaries
• Appoint election officers
• Secure and inspect voting locations
• Examine voting machines before each election
• Count absentee ballots on Election Day
• Certify election results to the Secretary of State
• Issue Certificates of Election to local winners

Note: On Election Day, the board stays in session to:

• Correct clerical errors
• Rule on voter registration questions
• Instruct precinct officers
• Count absentee ballots
