How to Ask for a Ballot

To get a mail-in ballot, you must send in your application at least 14 days before the election.

 

📮 If You Want the Ballot Sent to Your Home Address:

You can get a mail-in ballot if you can’t vote in person and:

  • You’ll be out of Fayette County during all the days and hours of in-person absentee voting.
  • You are part of the Crime Victim Address Confidentiality Program.
  • You are sick, have a disability, or are older and can’t go in person to vote (but have not been declared mentally disabled by a court).

 

📦 If You Want the Ballot Sent Somewhere Else:

You may get a ballot mailed to a different place if you can’t vote in person and:

  • You are in the military or live overseas.
  • You are a student living outside Fayette County while in school.
  • You are in jail, but haven’t been found guilty yet (the ballot goes to the jail).
  • You moved to another state after voter registration closed and only want to vote for President and Vice President.
  • You are temporarily living out of state but still a resident and allowed to vote in Fayette County.
  • You are sick or have a disability and need the ballot sent to a hospital or care center.
