KRS 235.070(2)(f) states that vessels holding a United States Certificate of Documentation are exempt from Kentucky boat titling and registration requirements.

However, if an owner wishes to title and register a previously documented vessel in Kentucky, the following documentation must be submitted:

• An Evidence of Deletion or Release Letter from the U.S. Coast Guard, confirming the vessel has been removed from documentation. For additional information, visit the U.S. National Vessel Documentation Center.
• A copy of the Certificate of Documentation.
• A Bill of Sale.
• A completed, signed, and notarized TC 96-184 (Motorboat Transaction Record – Application for Title and Registration).
