- Payment of any existing property taxes
This process prevents future property tax assessments for this vehicle.
- $1.00 Fee
Off the Road Vehicle Information
Vehicles that are not operated on public roadways are not required to be registered; however, annual property taxes are still assessed and must be paid. If you intend to cancel insurance coverage on a vehicle, you must first return the license plate and registration to the County Clerk’s office.
If a vehicle has been unregistered for more than one year and is being prepared for re-registration for use on public roads, the owner may submit an Off-the-Road Affidavit (TC 96-191). When submitted with the original registration, this affidavit may allow the registration fees for the inactive period to be waived.
Fees:
- $3.00 – If the affidavit is notarized at the County Clerk’s office
